新加坡管理大学(SMU)正式成立于2000年1月12日。新大由新加坡政府出资成立，并获得新加坡国会通过相关方案，允许及承认其授予的学位。新大学位受新加坡政府支持与承认，将有助于新大迈向成为享誉国际的顶尖研究及教育学府。
